In 1772, Philippe Clicquot founded a winery under the name Clicquot. In 1798, his son François, who had inherited the family business, married Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin. After François’ death in 1805, the young widow Barbe decided to continue her late husband’s work. A woman of vision, she became the driving force behind what would become a prestigious and successful brand, renamed Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin in 1810. Step by step, Madame Clicquot used her skills to develop an exceptional vineyard estate spanning 515 hectares in the very heart of the Champagne region.
Today, in France and around the world, the Veuve Clicquot brand represents modernity and boldness, with a strong emphasis on quality and expertise.
