ANGOSTURA

House of Angostura, also known as Angostura Limited, was founded in 1830 in the Venezuelan town of Angostura (now Ciudad Bolívar) by German doctor Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, who served as Surgeon General in the army. Around 1820, he began developing a remedy to improve the appetite and digestive health of soldiers.

Today, the company is also a renowned distiller and the leading producer of rum in Trinidad and Tobago. It operates distilleries in the United States, Canada, The Bahamas, and Suriname.
