JURA

Jura is a Scottish distillery located on the Isle of Jura, off the west coast of Scotland. Founded by Archibald Campbell in 1810, it was originally named the “Distillery of the Small Isles” and is currently owned by White & Mackay. The Isle of Jura is 11 kilometers wide and 48 kilometers long, with only one road, one pub, and one distillery. The island is home to just 200 residents. Jura Distillery produces 2.2 million liters of alcohol annually. The water used in production comes from Loch a’Bhaile Mhargaidh, a lake located on the island. Jura is a special place it’s likely the only island in the world where whisky barrels outnumber the human population.
